Precautions for storage of 304 stainless steel pipe

For the storage of 304 stainless steel pipes, they should be stored separately by category. But strictly speaking, 304 stainless steel pipes and carbon steel pipes cannot be stacked together. Because the materials of carbon steel pipes and 304 stainless steel pipes are different, in a humid environment, if the carbon steel pipes and 304 stainless steel pipes are stacked together It is very simple to produce a chemical reaction, and then damage the protective layer of the 304 stainless steel pipe, causing the 304 stainless steel pipe to rust. If different steels are piled together and touched, there will be a potential difference, which will cause galvanic corrosion, especially when there is stagnant water, the galvanic corrosion between 304 stainless steel pipe and carbon steel pipe will accelerate.

Just like the battery principle, the direct conversion of chemical energy into electrical energy in a chemical battery is due to an oxidation recovery reaction inside the battery. In order to avoid electrochemical corrosion and carburization of 304 stainless steel pipe, it is best not to pile up between the two. However, at room temperature, when carbon steel and 304 stainless steel junctions are touched and carburized, carburization will not occur immediately. Mottled rust on 304 stainless steel pipes will only appear after a certain period of time.

The gathering of things by kind and the division of people by groups are largely based on science. With the continuous progress and development of society, people will have more and more knowledge about this aspect. In daily life, garbage has begun to be classified and processed, not to mention 304 stainless steel pipes?

304 stainless steel pipe has certain corrosion resistance, acid and alkali resistance. The steel that is resistant to weak corrosive media such as air, steam, and water and chemically corrosive media such as acids, alkalis, and salts is called stainless acid-resistant steel. In practical applications, steel that is resistant to corrosion by weak corrosive media is often called 304 stainless steel, and steel that is resistant to chemical media is called acid-resistant steel. Due to the difference in chemical composition between the two, the former is not necessarily resistant to corrosion by chemical media, while the latter is generally non-corrosive.

The corrosion resistance of 304 stainless steel pipe depends on the alloying elements contained in the steel. Chromium is the basic element for 304 stainless steel to obtain corrosion resistance. When the chromium content in the steel reaches about 1.2%, the chromium interacts with the oxygen in the corrosive medium to form a very thin oxide film (self-passivation film) on the surface of the steel. ), which can prevent further corrosion of the steel matrix. In addition to chromium, commonly used alloying elements include nickel, molybdenum, titanium, niobium, copper, nitrogen, etc., to meet the requirements for the structure and performance of 304 stainless steel for various purposes.
